Making a quick, tasty smoothie is my favorite way to save time and stay healthy on busy mornings. This “Good Morning” smoothie is an easy breakfast that allows you to take advantage of the amazing health benefits of flax seed, turmeric, and peaches. It’s got a tiny bit of sweetness and spice, so it’s perfect for the whole family.
When it comes to making smoothies, I have spent a long time experimenting with different ingredients; After a great many failures, I quickly found a small group of “go-to” ingredients that I know work. But if you are like me, after you get some recipes you like, you tend to go back to them time and time again, and pretty soon you feel like it’s been a long time since you stepped outside your box.
So when I finally started experimenting, I wanted to try with some bold flavors that I had not used much before, and turmeric was at the top of that list. Why turmeric? It has a bold, slightly spicy taste and boasts amazing anti-inflammatory properties. Plus it makes a lovely yellow color.
So Let’s Do This Thing!
Put all the ingredients into a high-powered blender – I am a big fan of Vitamix, a high-horsepower blender that will liquify pretty much anything. Put the frozen peaches in first, then the rest so the frozen, harder-to-grind item is on the bottom.
If it’s too thick, add a little more milk to get it to the desired consistency. Add 1 tablespoon at a time.
To serve this amazing drink, just pour it into the glasses and enjoy. You can store any leftovers in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator. You should drink it all within the same day for the best taste and consistency.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsweetened Almond milk, or water if you choose.
- 1 teaspoon of farm-fresh ground flax seed
- 2 cups of peaches, fresh or frozen
- 1 medium banana, sliced
- 1 1/1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
Instructions:
- Add all the ingredients to the blender. If you are using frozen peaches, put them on the bottom as the blender will do a better job.
- Adjust the consistency by adding almond milk or water – easy does it! 1 tablespoon at a time!
- Dump it into your glass and enjoy!
- Can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for the rest of the day, but you should drink it all in one day for the best taste and consistency.
